Individual Counseling
The primary goal of individual counselling is to inspire change and improve the quality of life. People often seek therapy to help with issues that are hard to face alone. It can help people overcome obstacles to their well-being, increase positive feelings such as compassion and self-esteem, and learn skills for handling difficult situations, making healthy decisions, and reaching goals.
Many find they enjoy the therapeutic journey of becoming more self-aware, and some people even go to ongoing therapy for self-growth. It’s important to note that we will not give their opinions or advice or prescribe medication. We will help you find your own solutions – whether that’s making effective changes in your life or finding ways of coping with your problems.
Therapy can help treat mental, emotional, physical, and behavioural issues. Concerns that may be discussed in therapy include, but are not limited to: Anxiety, Stress, Food and eating issues, Anger, Relationship or marriage challenges, Addiction, Abuse, Family issues, Insomnia, Sexuality.
During a session, we may take you through specific exercises designed to help with your problem, or you might have more general discussions about how you’re feeling. What you talk about will vary depending on what you want help with.
It’s important to remember that therapists are trained professionals who provide support and maintain confidentiality. They are used to helping people work through painful or embarrassing issues. Therapy can equip people with the skills to manage symptoms, reduce stress, and improve their quality of life.
